RESULTS: 2 Cases Dismissed, 1 Deferred Adjudication.

Client was charged with 2 cases of organized crime (1st degree felonies), and 1 robbery case (2nd degree felony).

Client was a refugee from Democratic Republic of the Congo, (also known as Congo-Kinshasa and formerly known as Zaire) who immigrated to the United States at 12 years old. Client had suffered great loss in his family and persecution in the Congo.

At times Client was homeless, and during this time Client became involved in a string of burglaries and a robbery. His crimes landed him in jail looking at very serious sentences.

Although client had no prior criminal history, the prosecutor offered Client 12 years in prison on the charges.

Mr. Blizzard advocated for Client, telling the prosecutor of Client’s extensive mitigation evidence of persecution in the Congo and subsequent homelessness in the United States.

Through pressure and push back against taking various prison offers, Mr. Blizzard was able to obtain dismissals on two of the felonies, and deferred adjudication probation on one felony.

Client was placed on probation that has no conviction and can be removed from his public record once completing the deferred.
