What does “Ad litem” mean?
“Ad litem” means “for the case,” and attorneys appointed by Courts in various matters are tasked with the duty to investigate facts!
Whether delinquent property tax cases, oil companies seeking to secure receiverships for oil & gas leases, or child protection cases—attorney ad items are key in determining whether a lawsuit is valid & all relevant parties have been notified.
Here at Blizzard and Zimmerman, we occasionally accept case appointments we have a personal interest in.
In the legal field, it’s not unheard of for businesses, agencies, & private individuals to file suit without fully investigating the facts.
We take lawsuits & our ad litem role seriously by running our own reports, making our own calls, doing our own digging, second-guessing, & questioning everything!
Sometimes we find that people made a human error—like we all do.
Other times we find that the person or entity that sued just didn’t do a good job of trying to locate the right people in an effort to work things out with the Court.
The key is, we don’t take allegations at face value & this month our investigation efforts helped save three rural families from court involvement, associated court costs, & action against their personal property without a chance to be heard!
