Appeal of Felony Conviction

Appeal of felony conviction

RESULTS: Man convicted of prescription fraud and sentenced to life in prison based upon habitual offender enhancements.

Jacob challenged the enhancements on appeal, arguing that the client’s out-of-state convictions were not sufficiently proven.

The 11th Court of Appeals in Eastland, TX reversed the sentence and remanded the case for a new punishment hearing.

On resentencing, the client received a significantly lower sentence.
